Ingredients to make Dalia kheer / Broken wheat payasam / Godhuma rava payasam

  • broken wheat - 1/2 cup
  • jaggery / palm sugar - 1/2 cup
  • coconut milk - 1/2 cup
  • milk - 1/4 cup
  • cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • grated coconut - 2 tsp
  • cashewnuts - 5 - 6
  • ghee - 2 tsp

How to make Dalia kheer / Broken wheat payasam / Godhuma rava payasam

  1. Soak broken wheat for 1 hour . If its fine (small size) broken wheat, then you don't have to soak it, you can directly cook.
  2. Pressure cook by adding 1 1/2 cup of water and give it 3 whistles . If its fine (small size) broken wheat, then just give it a whistle.
  3. Heat a vessel with ghee and add cashews , grated coconut
  4. Fry till the coconut becomes golden brown in color. Switch off the flame and keep it aside
  5. Crush the jaggery
  6. Heat a vessel and add the crushed jaggery with a cup of water
  7. Once the jaggery dissolved in water, filter it to remove impurities if any
  8. Boil the filtered jaggery water for 2 - 3 minutes
  9. Add the cooked broken wheat and give it a boil
  10. Add milk , coconut milk and cardamom powder and cook it for 4 - 5 mins.
  11. If you want more sweet, you can add sugar Finally add the fried cashews and coconut and switch off the flame.
