About Lotus stem in honey ( Kamal kakri /Bhein Recipe

This is a bit of a fusion dish. Very easy and always a hit.

Lotus stem in honey ( Kamal kakri /Bhein

Ingredients to make Lotus stem in honey ( Kamal kakri /Bhein

  • 300 gms Lotus stem - scraped and cut in oval pieces
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 dried red chilli broken in 3-4 pieces
  • 2 garlic pods finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • 1 tsp chicken powder or 1/4 tsp ajino moto
  • oil for deep frying

How to make Lotus stem in honey ( Kamal kakri /Bhein

  1. Boil water in a pan. Put the lotus stem and REMOVE IMMEDIATEDLY. Cool them
  2. Coat the lotus stems with cornflour mixed with chicken powder / ajino moto
  3. In a deep pan , deep fry these I oil in WARM oil. Fry for 5 mns and remove
  4. In a non stick frying pan , take 1 tsp oil. Add ginger , garlic and red chilli till light brown. To this add honey and REMOVE the pan from gas.
  5. Now add ketchup and the lotus stems to this. Put the pan back on the gas and mix for a minute.
  6. Garnish with green dhania patta ( coriander ) leaves.

My Tip:

The lotus stems can be fried and kept aside. But the last step of adding honey , ginger, garlic should be done just before serving or the lotus stems will become soggy.
