Masala Masoor

Ingredients to make Masala Masoor

  • 1 cup whole Masoor dal
  • 7-8 tiny whole onions
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 Tsp Haldi / turmeric
  • 2 Onions,sliced
  • 3 Tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp garam masala
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic (grind to paste)
  • 1 tomato
  • 4-5 whole dry red chillies
  • 1" piece ginger
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp coriander seeds

How to make Masala Masoor

  1. Wash and soak the Masoor for 2-3 hours.
  2. Mean while add a little water and grind garlic to a paste.
  3. Pressure cook dal with turmeric, salt, baby onions and water for 2 whistles.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add the sliced onions and fry till translucent .
  5. Now add garlic paste, tomatoes, salt and cook till a little mushy.
  6. Add this whole masala to the boiled masoor and cook for 10 mins.
  7. Add the garam masala powder. Serve hot with rice/ roti.
