ABOUT Kathal kofta curry RECIPE

Jack fruit is known for its fiber content. It is also rich in potassium, magnesium and iron which supports heart and blood pressure. The seeds found in it helps in curing constipation. Kathal ki sabji is a good choice for people who don't eat non veg. It can also be used in a party for serving guests. Some people deep fry kathal but I make it without frying. some time i make with rice four also.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For kofta:-Jack fruit 1/2 kg
  2. ginger, garlic paste 1 tsp
  3. Roasted chana powder 2 tbsp
  4. Salt 1 tsp
  5. Green chili 2 no.
  6. Red Chili Powder 1 Tsp
  7. Onion chopped 2 tbsp
  8. Lemon juice 1 tbsp
  9. Oil for frying
  10. For gravy :-Onion paste 2 tbsp
  11. Ginger, garlic paste 1 tbsp
  12. Turmeric powder 2 tsp
  13. Red chili powder 2 tsp or to taste
  14. coriander powder 1 tbsp
  15. Tomato puree 1 cup
  16. Curd 1 tbsp
  17. Clove 2 no
  18. Salt to taste
  19. Cinnamon 1/2 stick
  20. Green cardamom powder 1 tsp
  21. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  22. kasoori methi powder 1 tsp
  23. oil 2 tbsp
  24. Coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut the jack fruit then boil it. Mash the potato. Make a fine paste with boiled jack fruit, ginger, garlic paste, onion, salt, green chili, lemon juice and red chili powder, mix chana powder and make the kofta with the mixture.
  2. Heat the oil fry the koftas till golden and keep aside . Now add more oil in this pan add cumin seeds, clove and cinnamon as they crackle. Add ginger, garlic paste stir 2 minutes.
  3. Add onion paste, fry the onion paste till it becomes nice golden color, add turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, salt and cook for 2 minute.
  4. Add tomato puree, curd and cook for 5 minute more or until the oil separates from the spices. Add sugar, ksoori methi powder and 3 glass of water, cover and cook the gravy for 10 minutes
  5. Open the lid add fried kofta and again cook for 5 minutes, then turn off the gas. garnish with coriander leaves, serve hot with chapati or steamed rice.
