Ingredients to make Thenga Manga Pattani Sundal (Beach Style Sundal)

  • White Peas - 1/2 Cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Grated Carrot -1/8 cup
  • Grated Raw mango -1/4 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • To grind:
  • Grated Coconut -2 tbsp
  • Green Chilli- 1
  • Grated Ginger - 1/2 tsp
  • To temper:
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds -1/2 tsp
  • Split white urad dal -1/2 tsp
  • Hing - 1/4 tsp

How to make Thenga Manga Pattani Sundal (Beach Style Sundal)

  1. Soak the peas for 8 hrs or overnight. Pressure cook it for 2 whistles by adding a little salt to this. Once the peas are cooked, drain the water from it.
  2. Grind the ingredients under 'To Grind' list to form a coarse paste.
  3. In a pan, add oil and temper with the mustard seeds, urad dal, hing, once it splutters add the cooked peas and mix well.
  4. Then add the grated carrot, grated raw mango and the coarsely grinded coconut paste. Mix it very well and cook it for 2-3 mins. Turn off the flame.
  5. Serve it to enjoy!

My Tip:

If you prefer chaat masala, you can also add to it.
